Do you know why these are called Royal Fruits?
I did not. But a little reading at the Mandura site taught me a lot of fascinating history from a time period I am not very knowledgeable about.
In short, when early (sometimes ancient) explorers first discovered the Durain and Mangosteen fruits their Royal sponsors wanted more of them. Some actually demanded more and offered rewards for fresh fruits because they were so hard to get back to Europe or to China before they spoiled.
There are more details to this series of stories about these fruits but this will give you a glimpse of their rich and somewhat romantic history with royalty.
